President Randy Billups called the meeting to order.
Board members present Mary Allred, Randy Billups, Denise Chittick, Kirah Johnson, Ryan Schlabaugh, and Jed Seward.
Board members absent: Jake Snider.
Staff Present: Superintendent Brian Stone, Business Manager/Board Secretary Jeff Swartzentruber
Mary Allred moved to adopt the agenda as presented. Seconded by Ryan Schlabaugh. Motion carried 6-0.
School Finance
Kindergarten Staffing for 2026-2027 School Year
Superintendent Stone brings a recommendation to add a fifth and sixth section of Kindergarten for the upcoming school year. Along with the recommendation, he recommends that the Alternative Kindergarten transition to Kindergarten as the fifth section as currently there are only 7 students enrolled for the 2026-2027 School Year. The total number of kindergarteners now registered is 103 and average of 17 students per class with 6 sections. There could be additional students enrolled yet. The numbers necessitate the hiring of one additional Kindergarten Teacher. The Board asked questions for clarification. Some concerns were expressed about Alternative Kindergarten. A discussion about Alternative Kindergarten is requested to be tabled until June 8th.
Jed Seward moved to approve an additional, fifth, Kindergarten Teacher position beginning in the 2026-2027 School Year and table the discussion on Alternative Kindergarten until June 8th. Mary Allred seconded the motion. Motion carried 6-0.
